The melodies are really nice, love your hard dance tracks - however, and I'm going to be brutally honest here, I really disliked the vocals. They just seemed so... stupid because they aren't meant to resemble anything... sorry.

However! That being said, I would personally love it more if you used chopped up vocals instead, look at some of MDK & Dex Arson's tracks. Back on to the positives, I loved the dance leads, especially with that classic DJVI build up. Same with the chilled out piano.

To sum up, the things I think you could improve on/tweak is:
A) The vocals
B) The ending - there wasn't one, it sort of abruptly stopped
C) The length of the song - this ties in with the lack of ending above

That being said, overall it's a nice song, just not to my taste. I am also worrying that all your songs will end up like this - I have noticed a vast increase in songs that have the same leads, the same build ups, and the same piano breaks, although they're nice.

Psst, we need more stuff like reapers, elemelons and midnight sun! I love those more sad sounding songs.

DJVI responds:

Thanks for your comments! However I have to totally disagree with you about the vocals.
The vocals are like lead synths and like synths they doesn't have to mean anything.

Think about it this way. If you hear a track with some foreign language its totally okey even though you don't understand them. But if you hear vocals and you know they dont mean anything its suddenly wrong and dumb? The vocals are there to kinda replace the usual leads and make it more unique.

Damn dude, lovin that weird vocal bass, also the really nice gentle arps around 2:38. Keep it up man!

SnapskiMusic responds:

Thank you, man. :D A friend said the arps reminded him of of the Chrono games, and I reckon I agree.

Don't forget to check out the album in the Bandcamp link, 'cause there's plenty more where that came from!

Love the arcade leads alongside the smooth chords, as well as the tiny plucks. Nice one!

EctiBot responds:

Thx :D. Tried to improve my sound design a bit in this, so glad it payed off!

Sounds freakin dope dude! I love the original, but this really stood out in a whole new light - Can't wait to hear the full version! Love to see some more 2.0 versions of your songs.

DJVI responds:

Thanks! I definitely will explore my other tracks as well :)

I absolutely love this. This is one of those songs which I wouldn't personally listen to, but its just so good it deserves a favourite. It's simple, but it sounds great. I love the melody of that arp that repeats a lot of the song. Despite the bassline changing very little I find the other changes in instruments used and panning keep me interested. Great work.

PaulyBFromDa303 responds:

That means a lot. I truly appreciate that. I tried really hard to keep the panning just as I wanted it and not all over the place. I probably could have added a little more to the bassline. You're definitely not the first person to say this either, and listening back on it I can see why. Diversity is something I will definitely keep an eye on in the future. Thank you so much for the honest review

This is pretty damn nice! The only thing I would say is that the growls in the second part of the song are a tad too wet, but other than that it sounds great!

dj-Nate responds:

Thanks for the review sir!

Where be the downloads button?!

SnapskiMusic responds:

Stay tuned for the release on Bandcamp and elsewhere!

Oh dammmmmmnnnnnnnnnn that is nice. I love the whole thing. Is that bass a sytrus bass? I feel like i've used that one myself, it's pretty nice. The build up is nice to 1:14, and during that drop I love the melodies every 2 bars, it sounds amazing. The filter lowering to 1:46 is a nice touch, and the breakdown after that is a nice change, especially with the piano, and the lead gaining in volume there is hella nice, as well as those drums which fit in perfectly. That whole melodic bit is freaking heaven to listen to. I like how you took out the leads and then at around 3:00 you switched it up a bit with the leads again. I won't go through the rest, as its just as beautiful as I have mentioned above. Although I will say I love 5:45 to the end. I'd really like to incorporate some of your ideas here into my own music. Finally, as a song I feel like it really lived up to a 6 and a half minute song - often songs this long get boring, but this doesn't lose anything in the second half.

I *almost* have no complaints about this song. Almost. Despite being simply beautiful to listen to, that lead can be feel a little too strong on the ears at higher pitches - I mean the parts around 1:00 to 1:10, but the lead itself is great, I just would've just equalized the highest parts slightly lower. Oh yeah, and the piano riff right at the end feels a bit out of place, I would've just done a route note, middle note, higher route note combo every 2 beats or something, but that is a minor thing I would change.

I also have a couple of questions!

1) Where did you get that amazing lead!?!?!
2) Where did you get that gritty pluck? (in parts of the drop and such)

Seriously, this song made my day!

Domyeah responds:

Ok so I have to thank you for such a lengthy review. The fact that someone took so much time to give me feedback on a song actually makes my day. To answer your questions, the lead is from some sub-category of Sytrus called X Nucleon that just kinda popped up in FL one day. The gritty pluck is a preset in Serum called Downed.

Oh dayumm an Auxy user! That was my first DAW, and its cool recognizing all the sounds.

I'm giving this a solid 4.5, as it starts a bit basic for my taste, and the reverb is a tad high everywhere. However, the build up is nice, but the clap could do with a nice pitch increase.

But the highlight of this that makes it shine, is that climax. It's just so beautifully formed, the bass sounds so sicccc in that part too. Only things I'd change about that is make the melody at that part slightly louder in the second part - maybe use the sound titled "Doodle" in Auxy and mess with the options a bit. Oh, and although mixing is non existant in Auxy, the kick during the drop wouldve been a tad nicer being a bit more deep.

That being said, this is an excellent remix of a popular song. Good work!

FelixZophar responds:

I use an older update of auxy because the newer update is not compatible with my iPad. I don't get sound packs and 9 effects. So, I'm very limited!

Sounds in key, except all the notes are just extremely random. Next time put some real effort into timing and stuff or don't even bother. The drums in the beginning sound cool but don't really fit into the rest of the song. If had some proper timing then it could sound much better.

IcyFire2222 responds:

Thanks for the tip!! Lol. It’s just hard to make music on the computer. It’s easier on the real piano.
